Defence

When it comes to communication, defence companies have a task on their hands.

Much of their work is secret, highly technical, or politically sensitive. They must also speak to many audiences at once: to governments, to investors, to the media, and to the public. Trust matters; but so does discretion. A single misstep can damage their reputation, affect contracts, or spark controversy. On top of this, despite the increasing importance of defence in our world, the field is often misunderstood. Companies must explain not only what they do, but why it matters – and do so in a media climate that is perhaps more sceptical than ever.

We help defence companies speak clearly, authoritatively, and truthfully. We work primarily with leaders at companies like these, but also with senior teams, to develop a style of communication that is honest, engaging, sensitive and that helps them move towards their goals. We translate the facts of defence work into narratives that emphasise how it protects lives, supports jobs, and drives innovation, without sounding overconfident or insensitive. We also prepare our defence clients for the difficult questions and public scrutiny they are liable to face in the media. Our aim is not to paint them as something they are not, but to help them tell the truth well.
